In this direct vent (2-pipe) system, fresh air is drawn from outdoors into the furnace via the upper pipe and the exhaust gases are expelled to the outdoors via the lower pipe.

I had a completely positive experience with Chuk. The day of the inspection he spends a full work day at your prospective residence and puts together an incredibly comprehensive inspection document - you would think he had been there for a week. The evening of your inspection Chuk meets with you for a coffee to go over all of the specifics. You are given a hardcopy document, as well as a digital copy including countless amounts of referenced pictures. He leaves no stone unturned and by the end of your meeting you feel extremely confident as to whether or not you will move forward with the purchase. If/when I am back in the market for real estate, it will be a no brainer to give Chuk a return call!
